Quality
MSA, FMEA, SPC and risk management: the tools that stop defects from first surfacing at the customer.

Knowledge from real projects: explained clearly, ready to use.

EDI
The Expert
We do not teach from the textbook. We teach from what went wrong in our own projects and how we solved it. EDI bundles that practical knowledge into workshops and courses you can apply in your own project the next day.
// Topics
MSA, FMEA, SPC and risk management: the tools that stop defects from first surfacing at the customer.
Tolerance analysis and design for manufacturing, so the drawing still works on the shop floor.
Lean management, kaizen and process optimisation, hands-on rather than theoretical.
Camera systems, illumination and optical metrology: the fundamentals that make or break every vision project.
Technical projects and product development, taught by people who are in the middle of such projects themselves.
Analysis, coaching and implementation support, for when you need a sparring partner rather than just a course.
// Format
On site, online or tailored individually, whichever fits your team best.
// Courses
Training from real projects, in small groups here in Gais or at your own site. Dates are arranged with you, and prices are per person for groups of four to eight.
Learn to read technical drawings with confidence and check them for errors, the basis of every conversation between design and production.
From sketch to standards-compliant drawing: how to document optical and mechanical parts so that production understands them unambiguously.
How much tolerance can a part carry before the assembly stops fitting? Hands-on tolerance analysis for single parts and complete assemblies.
Which quantity has the largest influence on your result? We show how to find that out systematically instead of by trial and error.
Where does your design resonate, and why? The fundamentals of frequency and modal analysis, explained in practice.
How resonances and amplification arise, and how to design them out instead of repairing them later.
From the PID controller to fine tuning: how to design control loops systematically instead of guessing at parameters.
A clear branching workflow that lets your team develop in parallel without getting in each other's way.
Before you doubt your process, check your measuring system: MSA shows whether your readings mean anything at all.
How reproducible is your measuring system really? Gage R&R gives you the number, and shows where the variation comes from.
A structured approach to lasting process improvement: DMAIC, from defining the problem to keeping it solved.
How to prove that a process reliably delivers what it should, not once but permanently.
Structured process development, from the first idea to a released, stable process.
The product development process at a glance, from requirement to series maturity.
The ground rules of good manufacturing practice, relevant as soon as quality is not merely important but prescribed.
Find failures before they happen: FMEA as a systematic tool for risk analysis in design and process.
Translate customer requirements into technical characteristics systematically, so that nobody develops past the customer.

Vision systems
Six wafers, two mark types, one machine. In one configuration placement was under 1 µm, in the other 5 to 6 µm. The difference was not in the mechanics, but in the number of measurement points.

Production lines
Three identical measuring machines for one production line. We built the first, the customer built the second and third from documentation written for exactly that.
// All three divisions
SIGI works out the solution, PAULI builds it, EDI explains it to you. You can come in through any of them.

You bring the challenge. We develop the solution. From the first idea through concept and development to the validated machine, we guide your project.
